"Lasky's Laws" Letter to the Editor takes Lasky to task on Bridge Bill

Lasky let ward 3 down on North Bridge bill
"... Lasky was one of the co-sponsors of HB 1626 that...would have required the demolition of eight homes and families in Nashua's North End and possibly up to another 10 homes and families as well....over 30 ward residents spoke against the bill...but Rep. Lasky apparently did not listen to those she represents as she continued to back the bill..."

To My Dear Friends & Supporters,
I want to thank you all for your friendship and support during these past several months. I believe that all things happen for a reason and this election is no exception. Truthfully there was so much good that came about because of this campaign that it makes it impossible to feel too badly. First and most rewarding for me was the participation in my campaign of so many friends, family and fellow Nashua citizens!

Even more important, many of you are not normally involved in the political process and this brought you out. I truly believe that the more participation in the process the better the Nation will be! So many times we get discouraged and turned-off. I hope my campaign helped to strengthen the resolve within those of you who participated. I believe we were successful in delivering our message to a large percentage of the electorate and the important issues we face here in New Hampshire are now more likely to be at the forefront of their minds going forward.

I will do my best to keep the issues at the forefront because the debate to me is critical! I think everyone needs to participate in the dialogue. I hope that will not stop now that the election is over. Finally, it was so encouraging to have your friendship, love and loyalty in every step of the campaign. I was always delighted and amazed at the numbers.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU ALL! I look forward to working with you all again as we continue to contribute our talents to the city, state and nation.

God Bless every one of you!

Your friend, Sandra

Ziehm would advocate for parents
"House Bill HB184, which would repeal HB 763, requiring that a parent be notified 48 hours before a minor received an abortion. In testimony, I reminded the members of that committee, including state Rep. Bette Lasky, of Nashua, that this bill was not about taking away rights of a woman over her body, but of parents' rights over their own children...Rep. Lasky decided that the state of New Hampshire knew better than parents what is in a child's best interest....New Hampshire does not need the government to parent our children. That is why I am supporting Sandra Ziehm for state Senate "

Ziehm the best choice for State Senate
"While many people today have all their attention directed at the national elections, it is important to consider that those federal-level elections may in fact be less important compared to what changes are transpiring right here, closer to home...It truly scares me that Bette Lasky will not pledge to uphold our state's honorable values and that she has already voted for HB 109 in the 1999 session in order to pass the detrimental state income tax. ...Sandra Ziehm has signed the Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers Pledge to "oppose all efforts to impose a sales, income, or other broadbased tax...I hope you will lend her your vote in order to keep our beautiful State "New Hampshire" and not "New Taxshire." “I ask for your vote on Tuesday, November 4 th”

--- Sandra Ziehm

Dear Friends,

It is with great pleasure and pride in the traditions of our state that I announce my candidacy for New Hampshire State Senate District 13.

As I view it, the challenges ahead of us are based on serious issues and here is where I stand . . .

Issue Number One: Eliminate wasteful government overspending. During the past budget year our state coffers took in more money than ever. In spite of this, New Hampshire is now millions of dollars in debt. How can we have record revenues but still have so much debt? The answer: overspending! State spending increased by more than 17% during the most recent budget cycle. To cover this new and inflated rate of spending, the legislature voted more than 30 times to increase fees on everything from auto registrations to deed registrations to turkey hunting licenses! It's time we restored fiscal sanity to our state legislature and put a stop to unnecessary, out-of-control government spending. Last year's 17% spending increase must never be repeated. We cannot afford it. If this overspending continues, we will be forced into implementing an income or sales tax. We must change our current state legislature by electing candidates who will not let that happen. I will vote to eliminate overspending and I will not support an income or sales tax.

Issue Number Two: Increase openness and fairness in government. I will work to ensure our state government is open and fair. Too many bills were pushed through the process these past two years without fair pubic hearings. Too many important decisions were made behind closed doors or in last minute, late-night sessions. We deserve a fair hearing and a voice in Concord. I will be that voice and I will insist on that fair hearing. As I always have, I will advocate for public hearings so your voice is heard.

Issue Number Three: Support New Hampshire parents and families. The current ruling Democrats have voted time and again to initiate laws that serve only to take away the rights of parents to make decisions for their families and their own children. They succeeded in making New Hampshire the only state in the country to repeal the law that requires parents to be notified before their minor daughter has an abortion. We cannot allow parental rights to be chipped away. I will always vote to support the rights of parents and to strengthen families.

Issue Number Four: Support and improve education. The education of our children must be controlled at the local level where parents, teachers and taxpayers have primary first hand experience. Education is best when funding is greatest at the classroom level and I believe our school teachers must be supported for the complexities of their profession. Teachers can bring their students toward a better quality of life and should be respected and protected. I will vote to return local control to the education system and to support teachers in the classroom.

Issue Number Five: Support small business and strengthen the economy. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. I know because I have owned one for 15 years! Reining in overspending will enable us to reduce taxes and fees on small businesses. This will re-establish an economic environment in which small businesses can grow, create new jobs and boost our economy.

As your next State Senator I will work hard to:

I hope you will support my candidacy and become involved in my campaign. I ask for your vote on Tuesday, November 4 th. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Sandra Ziehm
